CATCHING UP

RHC started out July busy and finished up the same way, totaling seventy-five fire and rescue responses for the month. In addition to wires down, transfers and fire alarms, here are some of the other calls:

07/17/2024- 0654 hours: Company 3 and 8 responded for a vehicle accident on Interstate 81 in the area of mile marker 9 southbound. Arriving to a vehicle down an embankment, aviation was requested. EMS transported occupants to Chambersburg Hospital and Meritus Medical Center by ground while LifeNet 8-1 took another to York Hospital.

07/17/2024- 1420 hours: RHC to the area of 4768 Buchanan Trail East for a vehicle accident involving a tractor-trailer with entrapment. Following a fifteen minute extrication, one occupant was transported to Meritus Medical Center and another to York Hospital by LifeNet 8-1. Fire Police from multiple agencies provided traffic control until the roadway re-opened to normal traffic at 1639 hours.

07/19/2024- 1552 hours: Box 3-04 alerted for a dwelling on fire- 43 West Madison Street in Greencastle. Crews arrived to fire showing from the second floor, smoke from the attic and extension to a near-by exposure. Crews placed handlines in service with the fire knockdown reported at 1616 hours. Utilities and Red Cross were notified and personnel continued working overhaul and extinguishment. Last unit cleared at 1811 hours.
