06/12/2026: In what will surely be remembered as a classic, the Greencastle-Antrim baseball team staged multiple comebacks to win the 5A State Championship tonight. It took 14 innings but the Blue Devils clinched their first crown by defeating Dubois 6-5. CONGRATULATIONS to all involved- players, coaches, staff and families.

While the parade HAS BEEN CANCELLED due to weather, the ceremony will be held at American Legion Post 373 at 254 South Carlisle Street beginning at 1100 hours. EMS WEEK 2026
05/17/2026: Today kicks off Emergency Medical Services Week (May 17-23) and Greencastle Mayor Ben Thomas stopped at the station to deliver the Borough's Proclamation. While mentioning the services provided by First Responders, Emergency Medical Technicians, Paramedics, Telecommunicators and many others, the announcement highlights the appropriateness of recognizing the value and accomplishments of all emergency medical providers and the essential services they provide. 20

RESPECT AND HONOR
05/02/2026: This weekend is the Fallen Firefighter Memorial held at the National Emergency Training Center in Emmitsburg, Maryland. The National Fallen Firefighters Foundation-led program will honor 204 firefighters (97 from 2025 and 107 from previous years), recognize their sacrifice and support the families and friends left behind. 04/25/2026: This Saturday will be the lastest Honor Flight return to Greencastle from their day in Washington, DC. Join us in showing suppprt and appreciation for all they have done for us by lining South Washington Street from the fire station to the Greencastle VFW. PEDESTRIAN STRUCK, BRUSH and MOWER FIRE
04/17/2026- 1207 hours: Box 3-09 alerted for a lawn tractor on fire- impinging on a house at 11208 Worleytown Road. Crews extinguished the fully-involved tractor while checking for extension in the near-by garage. BUSY TRAINING DAY
04/11/2026- 1000 hours: Crews took to the Blue Gray Towing lot on Molly Pitcher Highway South to work with additions to the Squad 3 equipment cache. Using funds from an Office of the State Fire Commissioner grant, heavy lifting capabilities were upgraded by adding Paratech vehicle stabilization and HydraFusion struts. COUPLE OF SPRING CRASHES
04/10/2026- 1628 hours: Units were alerted for a pedestrian accident in front of 26 East Baltimore Street, Downtown. EMS checked out one scooter rider before clearing. 04/10/2026- 0728 hours: Companies 3 and 8 responded to Interstate 81 southbound at Exit 5 for a personal injury accident involving two tractor-trailers. AN APRIL SHED FIRE, TRANSFORMER and SMOKE FROM A GARAGE
04/06/2026- 1728 hours: Units responded for smoke in the attached garage at 2140 Castlegreen Drive, Antrim Township (Box 3-18A). CLOSING OUT MARCH WITH CRASHES AND FIRES
03/30/2026- 1553 hours: Company 3 responded to 11104 Grindstone Hill Road, Sheetz for an auto on fire at the fuel island. Passers-by used portable extinguishers to put out the small engine compartment fire before FD arrival. WALK- DON'T WALK
03/21/2026- 0324 hours: Squad 3 and Ambulance 3-7 out to East Baltimore and Washington Streets for a vehicle collision. Crews checked for hazards- including to the newly installed crosswalk warning system- while EMS transported one occupant to Meritus Medical Center. DWELLING FIRE
03/18/2026- 2238 hours: Box 3-13 alerted for smoke in a dwelling- 385 Reid Road. First arriving units identified fire in the basement and stretched a hand line. Additional crews worked ventilation and extension checks with overhaul completed at 0014 hours. CRASH and a VEHICLE FIRE
03/13/2026- 1920 hours: RHC and Engine 17-2 responded to the area of 8418 Hades Church Road for a vehicle on fire. Personnel arrived to a well involved semi tractor detached from its trailer and extinguished the fire with no exposure issues. Apparatus cleared in forty minutes while Fire Police remained for another 1.25 hours until the roadway was clear. 03/13/2026: After returning from a wires down call on Shanks Church Road, personnel heard a collision in front of the fire

03/13/2026- 0123 hours: Initially alerted for a transfer to HFD's Engine 4, Engine 3-1 responded on the second alarm to a multi-family building at 145 South Prospect Street in Hagerstown. I-81 ROLLOVER
03/03/2026- 0236 hours: Companies 3 and Washington County 13 responded to Interstate 81 at mile marker 3.5 southbound for a vehicle accident. Locating a tractor-trailer on its side in the median and the occupant self-extricated, crews returned to service in fifteen minutes after confirming no other hazards.

WORK RESUMES ON I-81
The Interstate 81 road resurfacing project- from the MD line to mile marker 6- resumes this weekend- 03/15- each night from 1900 to 0600 hours (7:00 pm to 6:00 am) . First, they will work from mile marker 3.5 to the state line SOUTHBOUND then switch to northbound. THIS WORK WILL INCLUDE LANE RESTRICTIONS and RAMP CLOSURES at EXIT 3.
