03/07/2026: Tomorrow morning (March 8), we SPRING FORWARD. As you adjust your clocks, it's a great time to take 5 minutes to test your smoke and carbon monoxide alarms, replace batteries, and check their expiration dates. Replace devices older than 10 years and ensure alarms are on every level, including bedrooms.

Key Safety Checklist:

  • Test: Press the test button on all alarms to ensure they sound.

  • Change Batteries: Replace batteries in all smoke/CO detectors, even if they aren't chirping.

  • Check Date: Look for the manufacturing date on the back of the alarm; replace the entire unit if it is 10+ years old.

  • Placement: Ensure alarms are on every level of the home and inside/outside bedrooms.

  • Clean: Vacuum or dust around the smoke alarms to remove cobwebs and dust.

Take the time, check your devices- we want you to be safe!
