TIME TO REMEMBER

While the month of May has many days set to remember and show support, firefighters are celebrated and remembered too. International Firefighter Day is held on May 4th and- for the first time in decades- the National Fallen Firefighter Memorial program happens this weekend (May 6 and 7) in Emmitsburg, MD. There are several events leading up to Sunday's memorial as well:

May 4-7: Light the Night- when fire departments, businesses, private and government buildings are lit in red to support and remember the sacrifices made by first responders.

May 6- 1930 hours: Candlelight service at the National Emergency Training Center for families and supporters of fallen fire service personnel.

May 7: Bells Across America- As the fire service gathers in Maryland, bells will ring from churches, fire departments and homes as a grateful nation pauses to honor Firefighters that died in the line of duty in 2022.

May 7- 1000 hours: Fallen Firefighter Memorial Service at NETC, Emmitsburg, MD.

The National Fallen Firefighter Foundation will stream the events in Emmitsburg live on their website (firehero.org), Youtube and Facebook sites. Check out their website for additional suggestions, information and to learn about those being honored. Thanks for your support!
