07/25/2024- 2244 hours: Crews responded for a vehicle accident in the 2000 block of Buchanan Trail East (Shady Grove) arriving to an auto off the roadway after striking a parked vehicle. EMS obtained transport refusals and- after confirming no hazards were present- the scene was turned over to Pennsylvania State Police and Fire Police.
07/27/2024: Crews attended a public event at Momentum Martial Arts, 13630 Molly Pitcher Highway allowing attendees to sit in a fire engine, ask questions and go home with a fire helmet. The Hagerstown Flying Boxcars mascot even took a turn behind the wheel. Thanks for having us!
07/28/2024- 1502 hours: Companies 3 and 8 to Interstate 81 northbound near mile marker 9 for an auto versus tractor-trailer collision. Arriving to one auto on its roof in the median with its occupants self-extricated/refusing transport and the semi undamaged, apparatus returned to service with Fire Police maintaining the lane restriction until the vehicle was removed.
07/29/2024- 2121 hours: Units from Company 3 and 17 responded for a motorcycle accident with injuries in the area of 9200 Grindstone Hill Road. Crews requested air resources for the patient and WellFlight 2-8 transported to York Hospital from the scene.
07/29/2024- 2157 hours: With personnel still on scene at Grindstone Hill, RHC was alerted for an auto accident in the 14000 block of Ridge Road. Responders arrived to a single auto off the roadway, a utility pole and multiple electric wires down and the occupant out/uninjured. With the roadway impassable, Fire Police from several agencies established and staffed detours around the area for about ninety minutes until West Penn Power crews arrived to repair the lines.
