JULY STARTS OUT BUSY


07/01/2024- 1347 hours: RHC responded for a report of trees on wires in the area of 7982 Kuhn Road, arriving to electric service lines downed by a large fallen tree. After providing pole inventory information to Communications, personnel secured the area and awaited the arrival of West Penn Power.

07/02/2024- 0159 hours: Squad 3 assisted Company 9 (Mercersburg) with a house fire at 1406 Path Valley Road, Peters Township. Crew worked various fireground assignments for 3.5 hours before returning to service.

07/02/2024- 1818 hours: Company 3 and Washington County 13 alerted to Interstate 81 northbound in the area of mile marker .2 for a vehicle accident. Arriving to an auto versus tractor-trailer, personnel established traffic management, checked for hazards and assisted EMS with one occupant taken to Chambersburg Hospital.

07/03/2024- 1711 hours: RHC alerted to the 500 block of North Antrim Way for an auto accident. With two vehicles involved, crew confirmed no vehicle hazards and assisted EMS with movement of three occupants for transport to Chambersburg Hospital and Meritus Medical Center. Fire Police remained for eighty-five minutes to assist Greencastle Police at the scene.

07/03/2024- 1825 hours: Responding with Washington County units, Squad 3, Engine 3-1, Car 3, Ambulance 3-8 and Utility 3, units alerted for a motorcycle and auto accident in the area of Exit 3 northbound, Antrim Township. One rider was taken to Meritus Medical Center and the scene was cleared in thirty minutes.

07/03/2024- Engine 3-2 and Engine Tanker 3 to 19 Rutledge Road, Lenfest Hall at Mercersburg Academy for smoke in the building. After investigation, the cause was linked to a malfunctioning compressor and units went available in thirty minutes. (Mike Luger Photo)

07/04/2024- 1538 hours: Company 3 and 8 responded for a single vehicle accident in the area of mile marker 8 southbound, Interstate 81. The occupant self-extricated and crews checked for any hazards from the overturned SUV. Finding none, apparatus cleared while Fire Police remained to assist Pennsylvania State Police.

07/06/2024- 0130 hours: Units from RHC and Marion alerted for a motorcycle collision on Interstate 81 southbound near mile marker 6. Personnel confirmed conditions, established detours around the area and supported Pennsylvania State Police and Franklin County agencies until the roadway re-opened at 0651 hours.

07/08/2024- 1432 hours: Squad 3, Car 3 and Ambulance 3-7 to the intersection of Hollowell Church and State Line Roads, for a personal injury collision. Arriving to two vehicles off teh roadway, Squad crew mitigated fluids and cleared debris while EMS obtained transport refusals. Fire Police remained to assist with traffic control during vehicle removal, clearing at 1545 hours.
